These 2 videos are about Sonia, a black labrador who changed from black to white after the owner died. The vet interviewed in the excerpt had said that it was probably due to stress. Julia is the daughter of Sonia. The owner had Liver cancer and had to be hospitalised initially, and later got to return home. However, he died at home and Sonia discovered him. Till the time of production, Sonia was still waiting at the door everyday for her owner to be back.

This is a super touching video. This is just a demonstration of how faithful, loyal and attached our dogs are to us... *sob sob

Hi guys!!

We're here to update our blog!:) Chevro just turned 5 on Sunday, his birthday was on 6th December. Due to recent rainy season in Singapore ever since Mummy ended exams, we havent been going out alot.. even if we do, ONLY Camry gets to go out.

Camry: hiak Hiak. of course, i'm easy to shower and easy to dry.
Chevro: Life is unfair, just coz i take 2 hrs to dry... I go out much lesser......:P
Cayenne: whatever, as long as I can eat and sleep.

On Saturday, the 5th december, we had a small little outing at Colbar with Max and Brady. But we totally forgot to take pics coz the pawrents were so busy catching up! But we did take some pictures at Sentosa.. just a couple. but the lighting was horrible...

Camry: AInt I cool! hiak hiak. Poor Cayenne. She totally missed this cool weather man.
Cayenne: Orh. I'm content, coz I hate to be freezing cold.
Chevro: Ya man. it was so darn cold. I regret going for this.

Chevro: Orh. those beagles are scary!!
Camry: not really. You're just timid dude.

And then. we headed to colbar. and then we headed home. where the pawrents SUDDENLY decided to do some xmas shots for us...

Another belated post. Mummy's bz with her exams as they are commencing next monday onwards..

We went to Sentosa on Sunday, and it was an in-prompt to decision to make the trip there.. Happy and his parents called us really last minute and we took a taxi there..

Hi guys! We havent been updating coz mummy has been really really busy at school!
However, we are back! and we will be updating more frequently as much as mummy can! dun worry, we'd bug her!

just 2 weekends back, Mummy and daddy insanely decided to bring us to some place called " woodlands dog run". this place doesnt exist. rather, it was simply a piece of green field with nothing much... and we went during NOON! it was really really hot. So hot that even mummy was lazy to take alot of pictures...

Chevro: Stupid Camry, running around in this weather?? I've better things to do...

Chevro: I shall just sit here and pose while that CRAZY camry runs around...

Camry: What about Cayenne? She was lazing around, begging to be carried, what a loser!

Chevro: acting cute. As ALWAYS.
Cayenne: No I am not acting. I am ALWAYS cute.
Camry: Oh well. crazy chihuahuas!

Chevro: can we head home? this place is insanely hot. i dun wan to stay here anymore..
Camry: agreed. a shower would be good.
Cayenne: anything, as long as someone carries me?

Everytime the 3 of us hang out together, people would start asking if we get along well. Especially since Camry looks fiercer and much bigger in size than the other 2, people always assume Camry bullies the other 2.. the fact is... things are not the way people think it is..

Chevro: I'll be your guide while those 2 start.
Does this photo look scary, and seems like a life threatening situation for the chihuahua? Fret Not... this is just the crazy little gal bullying us older folks..

Chevro: Usually, and surprisingly, the loser is Camry.. She's horrible..
Camry: COme on! what about how you behave when Cayenne bugs u?\

Chevro: when people see this, they would usually go.. " OH NO!" and pick up Cayenne. The assumption that Camry would really snap at Cayenne is totally wrong! this has never happened before, and Camry only allows that little ger to nibble on her..

Camry: I look scary dont't I? its as if I will eat this small little thing up? Come on! this is not the movies.. I'm not a monster. she's the monster though...

Cayenne: HAHAHA I won. Smell my butt

Pardon the ugly pictures as mummy forgot her flash, and was working with the flash built into her camera. and this flash really sucks.

This Sunday, we are heading to the SKC dog show. Do drop by and say Hi to us if you see us! Camry's joining events in the companion dog show section. we hope we win something for the doggies at the shelter!!

We havent been updating as Mummy was away in korea for a week.. And we havent been out often... Sadly.

Hi guys! We're sorry for the late posting.. Ever since mum started school, she's been SO busy with her school work that she doesnt even have time to bring us out.. She's hoping this final year of her education would be over soon too...
In 2 weeks time, mummy's going to this place called Seoul, somewhere in Korea.. As she is going to the DMZ( demilitarized Zone), we are all praying hard that she'd be safe and sound.

We apologise for the ugly watermark in the middle of the picture, coz we're tired of our pictures being stolen. And we decided we'd not pursue the matter regarding the pictures, because it is simply too time consuming, and Mummy thinks she'd rather spend the time focusing on her Honours year rather than on ridiculous people. We take this as a lesson learnt.

Last week, Mummy took us to Hort Park, after her Japanese lesson.. We've not been going out alot ever since mum started school..
This is a new park smacked right in the middle of Singapore.. near Sentosa..

Chevro: Wow. its really been ages since we came out. Evident from the fact that our blog hasnt been updated for very long! As usual, I look the best. muahaha

Camry: This park is really beautiful. But it is simply too hot! We dun call this HORT park, to us, its HOT PARK!

Hi all,

Mummy was so angry yesterday because she found her photos being used to send to 2 seperate magazines. And the thing was, they were done totally WITHOUT her permission.

As readers of our blogs know, photos on our blogs usually come with a watermark of mummy's name or our blog website at the bottom of the picture. We put it at the bottom of the picture instead of the middle because we do not want the picture to be spoilt.

However, the photos were CROPPED, and the SIGNATURE was then removed by the respective owners. We felt that this was VERY VERY RUDE. This was tantamount to STEALING. And sending the pictures to magazines is the same as claiming that they own the sole copyrights to the pictures.

The pictures were stolen from our blog.

Honestly,We would definitely have given the full size resolution of the pictures to the owners gladly for them to send the pictures in. But STEALING them from our blogs, without our permission,REMOVING our names and watermarks and then sending in as if they took it, is totally UNFORGIVABLE.

Maybe you guys think we're kicking a big fuss out of this, but this just shows how sneaky people can be, and we really respect the pictures we take. Each and every picture is precious to its photographer and it really includes alot of efforts during shooting and post editing. Stealing them is definitely not right.

Mummy is considering taking action against the proprietors...
These people ought to be taught a lesson.
But well. One of them is a fren of ours, though not super close. But, this act would definitely spoil the friendship.

The pictures stolen were all from our April entry about the petschannel outing we had. Well. well.

Any suggestions on what we should do?

Anyway, on a side note, here are some pictures we took on Saturday at Madam Wong's shelter for the dogs.

SO long folks! we'll be gg out again tmr!

Hi all,

Pawrents are back from their holiday in Vietnam..
and they said it wasnt a fantastic trip. Because.. there were simply TOO MANY problems. Their small little camera and even mummy's Ez-link card was stolen. Luckily, they bought travel insurance, and might be able to claim from it.
In addition, Liza's CPL filter which mummy borrowed split into 2 as well. Hence, now they got to get another one for her.. sighz. even when they were abt to leave, the airport had a blackout!

First,Let me update myself 1st. Mummy's been crazily taking pics of me now! Chevro's at Joey's place, and Cayenne's at daddy's place, coz cayenne's on heat now, and we dun want any accidents!

Yesterday, our pawrents were really sad after a visit to the vet.
It all began with the night on the day before when daddy returned home..

Chevro was seen to be sulking and whiny. and when daddy carried him, he screamed.. and yelped. it seemed as if he was in pain! He couldnt walk as fast, he couldnt jump up and down, and he couldnt run! This was very unusual because Chevro has a habit of FRAPPING when we return home.

however, Chevro was able to walk as per normal, and there didnt seem to be anything wrong! Hence, daddy decided to wait til the next morning. It was then that he realised that Chevro was absolutely abnormal. He wasnt even walking ard, just sitting at a corner and sulking. And he was FULL of tear stains... THis is an obvious indicator that something was wrong with Chevro.. hence, pawrents immediately sent him to the vet.

Mummy:
At the vet, after a careful and detailed diagnosis by the vet, the vet, Dr Mei came to a conclusion. Chevro was diagnosed to be having PATELLA LUXATION. THis is a predisposed condition especially common in smaller breeds, especially Chihuahuas. We are not sure if Chevro was born with this, or because he suffered trauma from the beating done by his previous owners. But we then came to a conclusion that we had to change the way Chevro lived his life. We wanted to make sure that it didnt worsen.
Chevro is now at stage 2, where his knee caps will move in and out of place. SIGHZ.

After we got home, Chevro seemed better and it seems that after the doctor pushed the knee caps back, he seemed so much better. He could walk very quickly, but he still wasnt running though. Poor Boy! he enjoys running SO MUCH!

Chevro: You guys finally know what is wrong with me!!

Chevro: thanks for alerting Pawrents that something was wrong with me by barking at them when they came home...
Cayenne: Aww. its ok.

On the other hand, this morning, we took Camry for an early morning walk, because Mummy thinks she's getting fatter nad fatter!

Hi all,

this week had been pretty tiring for us, as we were running around both days of the weekend.. Very few pictures this weekend as mummy is trying to rest her eyes, before she goes for her lasik on Friday.. hehe...

THese 2 days, Mummy and Belly's Mummy were going to Annie's pet corner for thier sales... haha. and they have been buying so many things these few days...

On Saturday, we went for the Punggol Pet Carnival, and Cayenne got 2nd for the funniest pet photo contest...:)
And she got a big trophy!! lol. will post up pics of that soon.. coz mum left the trophy at a fren's place!!

On sunday, 3 of us then went to the Dogs Day out at the park event at west coast park.. however, mummy did not bring her camera, so... No pictures!!haha.

Mummy has been taking pictures of these puppies who are SO ADORABLE weekly! THey are chihuahua puppies, and mummy is looking to do some sort of photo update on the puppies..:)

Hi all,
This weekend, our parents brought us to Tanjong Beach in the morning, and guess what, we all had to wake up at 6am! this is totally crazy for us, who usually wake up at 12pm daily! we were celebrating Belly's bdae, but mum was so busy handling the 3 of us, she forgot to take pics of the cake and of Belly with the cake!! Sorry to Belly's mum!

Camry: Yawnz...Why are we up so early?

Cayenne: Ya,I can barely keep my eyes open man.

After we left the beach, we headed for West Coast Dog Run. However, it was pathetic coz there was nobody there... By the time we reached the dog run, we were dead tired.... Thus, we were just slacking around until around 5pm....

Chevro: Ohh.. I'm not hiding in the shade, just trying to cool off abit here...

Camry: Ginger, BALL CRAZY FREAK! LIke Belly..

Chevro: ALright, to show u I am not like some loser who focuses on chasing flies at a dog run, I shall do smth and wake my sleepy sister up...

CAmry: poor Button, got grabbed by the Lingerie models at the beach and his mummy freaked out coz she couldnt find him at all.

At the end of day, we were all so tired, we all fell aslp by the time we reached home... Even plans to meet up after showering us were cancelled, coz mummy and daddy were so tired!!!

Hi all,

This entry would be dedicated to pictures mum took when she was in Phuket!
This weekend we'd be going out to celebrate BElly's birthday!!

Camry: The hotel Mummy and daddy stayed at.. Looks like a REALLY Cool pool, Wish I could go too!

Camry: The strays at Thailand all look really well taken care of, and tehy are everywhere!!

Cayenne: WOW! the ocean is SO BLUE! this is TOTALLY different from the yellowish mirky waters of Sentosa!

Chevro: Just look at how blue and clean the ocean is! Man. I would love to swim there.

Camry: Holey Moley, the sunset is pretty! Singapore's so UGLY compared to this..

Cayenne: Mum says this is Mai Khao beach, a private beach for the people staying at her hotel.. Pretty isnt it? but the waves are way too strong for us to swim at all man.

Over the weekends, we went all around, and Mummy and daddy despite having to rush ard, still took time to bring us out..

We went to the clubpets carnival.. It was pretty small, and there wasnt much to see or to buy.. Hence mummy and daddy only stayed for awhile before heading to Bishan dogg run...

Oh ya, and when we entered the area, we were all warned by friends, telling us of a tragedy that occured just before we arrived.. A husky bit off the eyes of a chihuahua!! the eyeball dropped off, and from updates, the poor chihuahua is now blind in the eye... Sighz..

Last weekend, only Cayenne and Chevro managed to go out to play, coz Mummy was lazy to lug Camry out..

On Saturday, we all headed to Pinkie and Lucas' Place, and had lotsa fun...:)

On Sunday, Mummy went to A.L.L ( ANimal LOVERS LEAGUE), a dog shelter housing many many dogs.. due to poor lighting inside the shelter, mummy didnt take that many shots, and also, we decided to leave out the pictures of the dogs who have had the worst fate ever.

One of the many Jack Russells abandoned at the shelter, makes us think of how fortunate dogs like ours are, to have a home and be loved.

Hi guys, we found these videos of Camry's race on facebook and managed to grab a copy of the videos from the person who shot them, i.e Chuppajess from Dogsforum. Mummy is so happy that there is a video of Camry, coz the handling requires 2 people, hence no one is there to take a video of her running! We are so proud of you, Camry! You are the bestest girl in the whole wide world! Even though we know you HAVE to lose weight, you are still the best!:)

Lambert, sweet Lamby (mini schnauzer)

Lambert is a senior mini schnauzer who is looking for a home, estimated to be around 8 years old. Three years ago he was found abandoned at a playground and rescued by a young girl but now he has also lost his home due to family constraints. The girl's parents wanted to release him into the wild or to the SPCA and we managed to rescue him in time but he now needs a permanent home to lay his head.

We have called him Lambert as he is as docile as a little lamb. He doesn't bark and sits patiently to be taken out for walks, even as late as 11 pm he will hold his pee. He does not dirty your home, he does not protest when he gets his meal late or when everyone forgets to bring him down for his walk. That is not his style. Lamby is a very good boy, he just waits and waits.

Now in foster care, Lambert now knows how to exchange his paw for a snuggle and a pat but most times he is peacefully content to be by your side, enjoying your presence and companionship ... that is his temperament and docility.

Hell comes in different forms for those who need a home, for this dog, dumped once 3 years ago, abandoned again and saved at the eleventh hour from a straying life with no where to go, it is hell all over again. Hello All..
Yesterday was a day we were all looking forward to.. and It was truly a day of FUN!
We started off from Woodlands MRT station as Uncle Adrian drove us to Singapore expo for the SKC(SIngapore Kennel Club) Dog Show.

This time round it was the Companion dog show, hence we had a chance to showcase our other talents! muahaha.

Cayenne: I started the day playing with this wonderful BC.. Really playful!!

Cay: But then, he started chewing on me by the neck, and my entire head was in his muzzle, and mummy was getting really worried.. and carried me away, as this BC was a lil rough.

Cayenne: And then I played with this really cool MS with pink fur.

Cayenne: and Lucas, our old friend! haha I love playing with him.

Cayenne: Can You see who is whom? Which one is me???

Camry: Hello all! We are the Furrycars!! haha.

Chevro: Hi all, I;m the new leader of the furrycars...

Rudolf's PAWTY was held on 26th April.. Rudolf turned 3!:) He's a really handsome Shiba Inu, and we were honoured to be invited to the pawty!

This is RUDOLF!Didnt manage to get a better picture, as he was so busy running after the beagle! haha.

Time really flies... and your puppy hood was SO SHORT!!!

You are really a big gift to us, because it was so hard to find you! It took us so many years to finally find you. Even before we got Chevro, we were looking for you... A female Long Coat Chihuahua had always been our dream, but fate took us to Chevro before you!

We will always remember the day we got you, coz we got you on WORLD ANIMAL DAY!
We still remember the way your godma came by after her tuition, and told us, yes, she's the one! hee.. all we needed was that final confirmation from her, coz daddy and I hesitated for so long!
We didnt expect to get you at all, coz we were out with Chevro for a world animal day event at east coast....

TIme really really flies. Camry's birthday was on 23rd April, she was born in the year 2005, and we brought her home when she was exactly 2 mths old, 23rd June 2005.

Camry: 1 mth old me. SO CUTE.
Mummy: it sounds weird, when it comes out frm your own muzzle. :P

So many things have happened since u came into our lives, coz u are simply... accident prone.
from the fish bone incident to the recent fish hook incident, I must say u really make me and daddy determined to take good care of u. JUst a moment of slack on our part, would probably amount to deep shit for u. coz you are so naughty! even at 4. but we LOVE u....

We thank you for being part of our lives. and we promise to be with u till the day comes for us to part. we will never never give u up regardless of the situation.

MILO

When Milo was found with a noose around his neck barely breathing, he lumbered towards the feeder asking for help. If not for Milo’s youth and his strong neck, death would have been inevitable. The bruises and bloody jaw that Milo carried on that day marks how much he must have fought to escape death and his captors. Till this day, Milo has never forgotten the person who rescued him. He remains grateful, loyal and faithful and when he sees or even smells his rescuer, he will whine and howl in delight.

Oh, if you are wondering why I am the guide for the day, its coz Camry was bz catching flies, and Chevro's busy doing nothing and running away from dogs who try to sniff at him.

Here's part 2 of our Sunday!
We went to the PAssion by the beach event at East coast park. It was raining really heavily, and mum saw Patrick wong again after 3 years.. haha she wanted to send Camry there for obedience training 3 years back...
Anyway, here are the pictures!

Cayenne: I'm bored leh mummy... U're bz taking pics, daddy's on the stage with Camry. Chevro's sitting there doing nothing. I am bored...

Cayenne: there's Jie jie on the stage, participating in the FATAL distractions. Max's mummy says its IMPOSSIBLe to win at all. unless its a soft toy! muahaha

Camry went to round 2, but was distracted by bubbles~~ PITY! she was juz 5 secs short of the 2 mins she was supposed to stay still for! haha... But nonetheless, she did better than Max and BellY! MUAHAHA

Today's a long long day, starting from 6.45am until 5pm we were going around all the different parts of Singapore!

We have to thank Rain and Shine's parents for giving us a lift to BDR early in the morning! Many many thanks!:)
We love the way Shine is so playful and cheerful, definitely a happy go lucky dog. And Rain, super timid.. hee.. and SHEDS so little... *envious

Anyway, we started the day with the Class 95 dog walk at BDR...

Sentosa, 28 March09

It started off as a wonderful day last Saturday, until something REALLY UNFORTUNATE happened. Camry met with a mishap.
HER NOSE GOT HOOKED BY A FISH HOOK! It was really really terrible. Daddy wasnt there, and Camry was whining in pain.. Mummy's really really sad.
The worse thing was, the guy who swung his fish hook there, scolded Belly's mummy saying that he was there 1st, thus he had the right to be there. AND SAID IT WAS CAMRY'S FAULT FOR BEING THERE. WTF. But this wasnt true, we were all there before he arrived. Sighz.

In the end, Max and Brady's mummy had to drive mummy and Camry to Namly, where Dr Mei promptly removed the fish hook under sedation. IT was REALLY REALLY SAD.

When we returned to the beach, Camry was still slightly sleepy, but was doing fine already.. However, Mummy wasnt in the mood for anymore pictures, so the pictures here were all taken BEFORE the accident.

Recently, life has been really bad for Mummy, I guess.. this just further adds to her stress... But anyway, here are the PIctures...

Weaver ants

Mummy has been busy working on her module, Animal behavior, and she decided to observe something called the weaver ants instead of us.

In Singapore, we call them the red ants usually, but anyway, mummy took lotsa pictures for these ants(NOT US!) and here are some of the pictures! Because of this ant photo taking protocol she's been engaging in, she has then gotten the new toy, which was the Sigma lens that she hasnt really been using, coz she is waiting to get a filter as we always lick her lenses anyway.
Camry: erm. ONLY CAYENNE licks the lens!

Anyway, here are the pictures! mummy finally finished her final presentation for this semester, and now she's sitting in front of the computer all day long, writing something called papers? She still has a paper on Myanmar history and marketing paper to write. Sighz, I guess, we won't be going out much these 2 weeks... SOBZ!!!

This study attempts to test for the foraging efficiency of ants, so we feed the ants with TUNA! why TUNA? coz they dun want the honey and peanut butter we fed them!

Mummy and Daddy neglected us this whole weekend, coz they went to the IT fair...

However, they came back with a new toy! a toy that they kept using to shoot at us?

Ok, we went to Bishan Dog Run last Saturday. To our surpise, no one was there! haha.

The dog run was practically ours!! It was wet, but not muddy! We all had fun!

Camry: Of couse, there were so many flies around!
Belly: I've space to run!!

Button: I can.. turn round and round in circles?

Anyway, we were there with Belly and Button! It was great meeting up with Chevro, coz he's with Belly Button on vacation now? (so envious!)

Mummy hasnt had the mood to take much pictures ever since she lost her flash! She loves her flash so much, that without it, the Camera seems pretty useless.. sighz..

We're back from the scaling!!
Chevro: I survived the GA!
Camry: ERM.. i survived it twice, so its really no big deal.

Irresponsible

It suddenly dwelled on me that our dogs are totally subjected to our discretion. How we view our dogs would affect how their lives turn out to be. There are so many cases of dogs given a new lease of life with new owners, for example, my little Chevro. However, there are people who just give up on thier dogs when problems arise.

It seems that the fate of our dogs are totally dependent on who thier owner is. Once their owner gives up on them, their fate is sealed, and this demarcates the end of thier lives. How fair is that to them? Who determines which dog follows whom? Sighz..

Some people only think of giving up when problems arise from thier dogs, while others try rectifying the problem. I've seen several cases around me, just these 2 days, where some people just try to dump dogs they think they cant train or to ask others to train thier dogs for them, and expecting to get a perfectly trained dog back.

How naive is such a thinking? Do these people even understand the bonding that one is able to obtain when they do the training themselves? Do they understand how the dogs feel when they are shifted continuously? Period, these people are simply being irresponsible. Coming up all kinds of futile EXCUSES to explain their own irresponsibility.

All we can do is to take better care of us dogs, treasure them for who they are, and taking extra care not to HUMANIZE them too much. SOmetimes, your idea of doting on the dog as a kid, and treating ur dog as a human being is simply just the root to future problems arising.

With this, I am more determined to retrain Camry, by kicking her out of the room, letting her sleep in her own bed. She's a dog afterall, no matter how sweet and how close she is to me. She would only enjoy life best if she's treated as a dog. Its innate, its IN THEM.

I am back to the old catch line i've seen on SPCA posters since I was a juvenile.

Last Friday, mummy and daddy watch Marley and Me with 8 other doggy parents!
Mummy cried from the point Marley started ageing, and her eyes were swollen for 2 whole days.

Mummy has had this book for 2 years, but never read it. She was bz reading cesar millan.

Camry: I think she'll start reading soon. Juz like how she went crazy over this movie, MY DOG SKIP! JRT owners MUST watch this movie. its very nice too!

This movie reminded mummy and daddy of the time they got Camry. She was a little rascal, exactly 2 mths old, joined their peaceful life and turned it upside down on
23rd June 2005.

We see so many similarities as we watched the movie. And we are also able to feel that same ageing feeling. Of course, Camry's ageing together with us. but Still, these memories she's had with us are countless, and precious, and definitely unforgettable. The movie was given only 2 stars by new paper. but we'd give it a 4 star! its really a wake up call for dog owners to treasure their babies even more than they already are...

Last saturday, daddy drove us to sentosa, with Belly button and their daddy and mummy. However, the weather wasnt good.. as a result, we didnt enjoy the day.

Dear dog lovers,

I MAY need help to foster a chihuahua as this dog is being neglected by XXX.

Some1 gave her this dog but wanted it back before cny, but until now did not come n pick him up. Also XXX has also lost interest of the dog & put him in their toilet EVERYDAY!

I came to know about this when I msn with my gf this afternoon & i asked her to give me the dog for re-home as XXX is not keen anymore + i don't think the originial owner really want him back. He been giving reasons like no transport thus unable to bring back the dog........ My gf's bro even offered paying for his taxi fee but he kept on giving funny reason.

Cat Killing case....

It is with a heavy heart we're writing this entry.. we seriously cannot believe how SICK people can get... And Cats, naturally close to humans esp those who are fed everytime by humans, are extra trusting of humans.

Camry: Yes, even though i naturally want to go towards cats whenever we see them, I will not do something like this!! I remember once where the cat smacked my head 3x, and i was so shocked i couldnt react!!

Cayenne: Cats are bigger than me, I havent really interacted with cats before though.. but I condemn people who do this kinda thing too.

Chevro: THESE PEOPLE ARE SICK!!! We hope to hunt the cat killers down and prosecute them ASAP.

Mummy: Hmm, i'm wondering if its related to the recent economic downturn and the increased stress causing stress to be diverted to the stray animals? sighz..

Daddy: Ya, I have to agree.....

We may nt have any cats in our family, but still, we have to declare that we have nothing against cats.. they are wonderful animals in thier own rights.

Dozens of cat carcasses found in bags buried at roadside

THEY looked like ordinary trash bags lying along Seletar Road, waiting to be picked up by the waste collection truck.

But they contained the bodies of cats, carefully sealed in plastic containers or bags.

It is understood that there could be up to 45 cat carcasses in the bags.

They were dug up by the police, after getting a call.

It's not known who killed the cats. Or why. Or how.

But it appears to have been the worst mass killing of cats that Singapore has seen (see report on facing page).

There are few clues, and it is not even clear yet exactly when the cats died.

It is illegal for anyone but trained veterinarians to put down any animal in Singapore.

The New Paper was tipped off by the Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) about the grisly finds.

SPCA understands that a woman caller, believed to be a resident of Seletar estate, had alerted the police to the stench.

SPCA took some of the dead cats to the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) Animal & Plant Health Laboratory to see if a post-mortem can be carried out.

Three of them, said executive officer Deirdre Moss, 'were in a white plastic box securely taped on all sides'.

She said: 'The SPCA is urgently appealing for witnesses to come forward, who may have seen any persons burying the bags in the different locations along Seletar Road.'

Following the examination of the three bodies, the SPCA veterinary report found that the cats were likely to have been dead for at least a week.

Further investigation would be necessary by way of a post-mortem to establish the cause of death.

The police informed SPCA around 8.20pm on Thursday night that '45 dead cats had been buried in the vicinity of 1 Stratton Place, along Seletar Road, within Seletar estate'.

When The New Paper went to Seletar Road on Friday morning to investigate, we found 13 bags lying along the road. They were in three separate locations within a distance of 500m.

This was after the SPCA had removed some of the carcasses.

Near the bags were holes that had been recently dug up, measuring about 30cm deep.

Someone had taken the trouble to bury the cats. But why? And how did the animals die? Was it painfully?

Ms Moss said: 'The cats have been dead for a number of days and this may hamper establishing the cause of death for these animals.'

The stench of the decomposing bodies was overpowering.

With plastic bags acting as gloves, The New Paper team opened up one of the black plastic bags found at the end of Seletar Road, near a construction site.

We found a dog-food plastic bag inside, that had been taped securely. When we opened that bag, we found another layer of red plastic.

But at the bottom of the bag we opened, we could see some dark brown liquid that had possibly seeped out from the decomposing body.

By then, the smell had become unbearable and we decided to stop because if the liquid spilled out, the stench would have affected the surrounding residential area.

A Bangladeshi construction worker who declined to be named said the police were there at 9am on Friday, but he didn't know what they were looking for.

'I didn't hear anything about dead cats,' he said.

Said a 36-year-old Sri Lankan domestic helper living across from where the bags were found, who gave her name only as Mala: 'It was very smelly this morning. While I was watering the plants around 7am, I could smell something but I didn't know what it was.

'I've never seen people keep cats around here.'

Her employer, Mr Kish Ranai, 50, told The New Paper that his neighbours had called the police because they had noticed the foul smell.

'The first time I smelled it was yesterday evening when the police were around and they were digging up the bags. I didn't know that they contained cat carcasses,' he said.

'I've been a resident here for more than 15 years and it's the first time something like this has happened. It's cruel. Those culprits must be dealt with.'

He wondered aloud why the cats were not sent to SPCA to be put down humanely.

The New Paper's efforts to speak to the neighbour who called the police were unsuccessful.

Mr Justin Chiam, 20, a jogger who happened to be passing by, noticed the strong stench.

'It's my first time jogging here and I noticed the smell immediately. This is animal cruelty,' he said.

A spokesman for AVA said they received a total of 10 cat carcasses submitted by SPCA on Friday.

Preliminary examination indicated that all 10 carcasses were in a highly decomposed state. Post-mortem examination is still ongoing.

AVA will investigate all reports of animal cruelty.

For an investigation to be meaningful and productive, the report should be accompanied by sufficient evidence that an act of animal cruelty has been committed and information that could lead to the identity of the perpetrator, said AVA.

Witnesses willing to testify in court against the perpetrator will help in the prosecution.

Anyone found guilty of animal cruelty can be fined up to $10,000 or jailed 12 months or both.

Members of the public can contact the SPCA at 62875355 extension 9.

Ms Moss said: 'We're desperately hoping that someone will come forward and shed some light on this horrific find.'

Yesterday, Mummy went to SPCA with Joey and liza to take pictures after not going there for almost a year.

Cambodia, final pictures

Mummy finally processed the last batch of pictures taken at cambodia.. here she is, posting the pictures up... And today, the tour guide would be Camry!

Hello! I'm Camry!

Daddy and mummy took a bus to Phnom Penh on day 3 of thier tour. This is Cambodia's highway by the way! the only highway in Cambodia. So different from the PIE and AYE here that mummy drives us through...
Phnon Penh's the capital of Cambodia, and this was greatly depopulated in the 1970s by the Khmer Rouge. A crazy and pervertic ruler of Cambodia.

Halfway thru the journey, they stopped at a small little countryside market.

Something Mummy was IN LOVE with coz it tasted SO DAMN nice.. it was 1usd for 8 of these fantastic tasting eggs..

Anyway, Mummy still has somemore pictures of Phnom penh of the killing fields and the genocide museum, but had decided not to post them because they are simply too sad to mention. So, we shall end off with a picture taken on the way to the Killing fields...

Hi all,
Today, mummy took Camry(Me) and cayenne out, leaving chevro at home!!
Sadly, there aint any pics of me, coz i was bz catching flies, and mummy was trying so hard to pretend she didnt know me... :P Oh well.. who cares as long as I have my flies...

On Saturday, Chevro and Cayenne went to Bishan Dog Run.. but no pics were taken, coz mummy didnt bring her Camera... At night, they took the 3 of us out all the prawning.. but the pic quality is so poor, mummy thought it wasnt nice to post them on our beautiful blog as the pictures were taken using that device called pawphone/handphone? anyway, the pictures were so ugly. cayenne and me were sleeping all the way while they prawned, only that stupid Chevro was so excited.. Geez, what a dumb dog.

Getting rid of ticks!

THose who have met us recently should know that Chevro's been quarantined coz of the ticks.. so we have decided to share how to deal with the ticks as we have FINALLY cleared chevro and daddy's hse of ticks!! Coz it is truly a gruelling process and super super irritating...

Chevro was infested with ticks, and it took us a whole month to be entirely free of ticks. We tried all the brands on the market, revolution, sentry, zodiac, etc. But all these didnt work, even when we confirm that we had removed the ticks from him. coz the next day, he would have ticks crawling on him again.

Then we started realising that depending on all these alone dont work, we really had to hunt the environment for ticks. After reading articles from US, we started looking ard, and it wasnt until this that we realised that the ticks were actually crawling all over the house one by one!! And the numbers of them were uncountable!! even though we had a white wall, the ticks were sticking onto the walls, there were so many of them, yet nobody realised!!

We took tape, and starting taping those we found, esp on the walls!! they just stick on the walls and wait for the dogs to sit against the wall and then climb onto them! it was really scary... coz we taped ard 300 ticks juz that nite alone... we started using frontline plus on chevro, and the number of ticks on Chevro started reducing greatly, after we manually removed around 50 ticks from him? We almost shaved him down totally!!! but we only shaved some parts in the end coz we couldnt bear to shave his fur down...we also started checking himeveryday several times to remove the ticks on his bodies.

And when we remove the ticks, the wounds are really really scary, coz there's always blood oozing.. so we always put some neem powder on the wound. it helps them to heal faster.

When you know there are ticks around, the best thing to do is to start looking around the house, and make sure that the ticks are not crawling around, and you have to be very very active in checking the environment and dogs every single day. We also make sprays to spray the walls and holes around the house, and use Carrington's to mop the floor. We use accurate, PPP cycle block and Carringtons' to spray the entire house.

if there is more than 1 wound,your house prolly already has ticks hiding all around. it just takes 1 female tick to lay 5000 eggs.. because a tick only bites 3 times in thier lifetime. if there are more than 3 wounds, then prolly there are many more ticks around your house..
your job is to hunt them down, and also check your dog's body daily, remove them manually,and also at the same time, put some spot on on your dog. Be hardworking, and keep checking for ticks non stop, and slowly, you will be able to eradicate the ticks totally....

I've just been thru the gruelling process too, but am glad all is safe, at least for now, as I havent seen a single tick in 1 week, but we are still doing the procedures of checking everyone and everywhere daily.. just in case we left one...

During the infestation period, Chevro was hunting for ticks himself when the house had lots of ticks.. i literally see CHevro hunting and eating ticks from the floor..

Be more careful when you find ticks too, sometimes you may catch 2 ticks clustered together and they are usually mating ticks. If you find wounds without ticks, then the tick has prolly bitten and hiding somewhere else to lay eggs, or waiting to bite another host..

Its a really tiring process, but we have to work hard to help our babies...

Hello everyone! this is my latest picture! Have I grown up? Today, I am here to write Mummy's travel journal, or rather showcase her pictures.. keke.. she was so excited showing the 3 of us the pictures when she returned with daddy, so I thought I might share it on our blog!

On thier 2nd day, Daddy and Mummy went to this place called Ankor Wat. As mummy majors in history, she told us the story of the Ankor dynasty...
Camry: Yawnz.. She's told me this story long ago lor..
Cayenne: Very interesting story what..
Chevro: Yawnz.. this is prolly the 3rd time? YaWnz...

Mummy: This is Ankor wat! Isnt it pretty? But this place prohibits dogs..

Cambodia, Day 1@ Siem Reap

Cayenne: Mummy has been taking me to chalet the past 2 days... and so here are the pictures she took in Cambodia, beginning from Day 1 1st, coz mummy has too many pictures...

They arrived in Siem Reap on xmas day morning....
First visiting the Cocoon Factory... then ard the vivcinty, they were wowing ove everything they saw...

This beautiful flower belongs to the farm...

Look at the ants in there! they are all auntie annie's wishlist.. She was looking out to eat these ants...

Mummy and daddy are back!!
Cayenne: Finally! they juz picked me up from my godma's place...
Chevro's ticks are finally cleared! but still bz killing ticks in the environment... they are darn gross.. Chevro's body's cleared of ticks at last!!

Yesterday, we went to Sentosa Tanjong beach for the Chibuddy xmas party!..

Mummy brought Cayenne and Camry out... Chevro's excluded from this because, he's infested with ticks, and mummy thought it would be very irresponsible to bring out a dog with ticks...

Mummy juz came home from teaching tuition... and as she was waiting for 8pm for her driving circuit lesson coz her driving test is tmr, she decided to take pictures for us... Lazy to set up, so mummy used whatever that was available at home, despite it being a gloomy day....

Cayenne's day out

Today, Mummy took Cayenne out only. (AGAIN!)
Cayenne: Camry was whining when we left, but who cares about her? hiak hiak!
Mummy: tat's coz.. we went all around, and Camry's too heavy to lug around... hee...

Mummy took us to view a wawa from a show breeder, it was so so so so pretty! I really wanted a little brother like that... but sadly, mummy said 3 of us are already giving her a big headache, so mummy and daddy decided against it...

After that we went to Auntie Shirleen's house, met Caramel, Chubby and Rhea! Rhea is still so tiny, at 4 years old, she's still 900grams!!!

After this we met up with my godma, Liza, who kindly drove us to the dog run... we went to Bishan dog run and saw our friends, momo and dodo there... haa.. Momo's still so adorable!!

As usual, I was busy finding tails to wrestle with... hiak hiak.... Here comes the pictures...

Today, Mummy brought us very early to Pets' station warehouse for thier warehouse sale ard 10.30am with Miu Miu and her mummy! We bot a water bottle and 2 interactive toys! The toys are so cool that mummy bought 2...

After that we went to yishun to have our lunch then for the Yishun dog gathering at Yishun park with the other doggies... We all had fun..

A Pity Cayenne got snapped by a dog that was playing with her,and the corner of her eyes were injured and bled slightly, prolly juz a small scratch... sighz... then after that Cayenne juz didnt want to play anymore and sat at a corner sulking..

But still mummy thinks it was her fault for not stopping her from disturbing the other dog... lesson learnt..

Cayenne: Ya, my eyes really hurt, that's why i was screaming.. but no one found out abt it until we were abt to leave... Sobz....
